Saturday Place is an enrichment program for 3rd and 4th grade Chicago Public School students who are performing at least one year below grade level and live in under-resourced communities. We currently have a partnership with Chavez Multicultural Academic Center, a Chicago Public School, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on Chicago’s Southwest Side.
Since its beginning, Saturday Place students demonstrate growth in Math (99 percentile) and Reading (60 percentile) during their two years in the program. A recent program evaluation conducted by Loyola University of Chicago found that Saturday Place is improving student academic performance and academic self-efficacy.
The program is proving to have a lasting effect on students – former Saturday Place students now in 5th and 6th grades continue to demonstrate academic success after completing the program.
Saturday Place is an effective program that enables students to excel academically, develop a love for learning and inspires them to be future college graduates.
